Best for:
All direct box and re-amping needs; it's a studio workhorse with a smooth and even vintage transformer (UTC style) sound on both direct and re-amped signals.
Circuit topology:
Phantom-powered active buffered 1M ohm impedance front panel instrument input (pre-the transformer primary). Passive 30k ohm impedance rear panel instrument input (directly to the transformer primary). RE-AMP section balanced transformer line level input 10k ohm impedance or with re-amp overdrive selected 1.2k ohm impedance. Note: Phantom power is only needed when using the front panel instrument input. The transformers used on both the DI and re-amp are vintage UTC (reverse engineered), which I use in all the Little Labs guitar-oriented products.
What makes the Redeye 3D unique and of incredible value:
Simultaneous capability of using it as a DI and a re-amp box. This allows you to insert your DAW into the whole chain of the Guitar >Redeye 3D >DAW >Redeye 3D >amp. Selecting with one button DI (DI through signal of your guitar) or re-amp the (output of the DAW re-amped) makes re-amping fast, accurate, and indistinguishable from playing live.
