Lynx Studio Technology, known simply as Lynx to industry insiders, is a company that has been at the forefront of audio innovation for over two decades. Today, we at Pro Audio LA are proud to spotlight this exceptional brand and its cutting-edge products.

Founded in 1998, Lynx Studio Technology has consistently pushed the boundaries of audio fidelity and functionality. The company's commitment to excellence has earned it numerous accolades and a loyal following among audio professionals worldwide.

Lynx's journey began with the revolutionary LynxONE PCI audio card, which set new standards for computer-based audio recording. Since then, the company has continued to innovate, introducing groundbreaking products that combine pristine audio quality with robust functionality.

Lynx’s Flagship Products include:

Hilo: The Ultimate Reference Converter

The
Lynx Hilo is a tour de force in the world of audio conversion. This reference-grade converter offers:

  • Pristine AD/DA conversion with up to 192 kHz sample rates
  • Versatile connectivity including TBT3, USB or DANTE
  • A full-color LCD touchscreen for intuitive control and metering
  • Customizable signal routing and mixing capabilities
The Hilo's exceptional audio quality and flexible feature set make it an indispensable tool for recording studios, post-production facilities, and discerning audiophiles alike. Many mix and mastering engineers around the world use Lynx Hilo converters for its pristine conversion and simple plug and play connectivity. It can also be powered via 9-18v DC battery packs for location recording. One of the coolest features of the Hilo that we love is the Real-time meter and analysis tool that turns the LCD touchscreen into analog looking meters.

Aurora(n): Next-Generation Networked Audio plus large format modular conversion

The
Aurora(n) represents Lynx's foray into the world of networked audio. Key features include:

  • USB, TB3, Pro Tools HD or Dante audio networking for seamless integration with modern studio setups
  • Up to 32 channels of analog I/O in a single rack unit
  • 24-bit/192 kHz AD/DA conversion
  • Extremely low latency performance
  • Computer based control interface for easy remote management
While the Aurora(n) is the perfect solution for studios looking to embrace the future of networked audio without compromising on sound quality, it is equally adept at upgrading existing multi-channel studios with modern conversion and on the fly controls. One of the best qualities of the Aurora(n) is the fact that it can be customized to fit any situation with a variety of modules that now include mic preamps, dedicated monitoring, line I/O as well as AES and ADAT. It is both Windows and Mac compatible, making it an unbeatable upgrade to your existing multi-channel setup regardless of the operating system of your choice.

Since you are here, check out this 8-Channel rack panel that you can combine with either the inputs of outputs of an Aurora(n) equipped with 8 In and 8 Out. If you have a more popular 16 In and 16 Out configuration, check out this 16-Channel Rack panel that can easily turn the DB25 connections from the back of your Aurora(n) to the front of your rack, as XLR, Combo or TRS jacks for easy connectivity. Do you have an Aurora (n) 1608 with 8x mic preamp inputs and 16 channels of Line outputs? Combine the 16 Channel rack panel for your outputs and get one of these 8 Channel XLR rack panels for the mic preamp inputs.

While the Hilo and Aurora(n) are standout products, Lynx's entire lineup deserves attention:

The E44 is a highly regarded PCIe card with 4 channels of Analog and 4 Channels of AES or S/PDIF I/O and is based on some of Lynx’s previous legendary offerings.

The E22 is based on the venerable LynxL22 card, providing 2 channels of A/D and D/A conversion as well as 2 Channels of AES3 and S/PDIF I/O. If you are a PC based producer who was making music in the early 2000s, you know what a game changer this was!

Then there is the AES16e with 8 stereo digital inputs and 8 stereo digital outputs (16x16 mono). It offers support for conversion ratios up to 16:1 with 144 dB dynamic range and -140dB THD+N, had an extensive on-board digital mixer and offers Multi-channel support of 5.1 and 7.1 surround playback formats. If you have PCIe slots on your PC, Mac tower or through a bridging chassis, this card is an excellent way to get lots of digital I/O to get a surround mixing/monitoring setup going with just a couple of breakout cables.
The AES16e-SRC model adds 16 channels of sample rate conversion on the AES inputs, offering even more flexibility.
