Built on the renowned preamp and power supply design from D.W. Fearn's VT series of tube microphone preamps, the VLC delivers sonic transparency and impressive headroom. With a front panel rotary switch, you can select between microphone, instrument (DI), or balanced line-level input. The all-tube DI path works wonders for acoustic instruments with pickups, electric bass, and synths, while the line-level input allows for "re-preamping" during mixing, a secret trick used by many VLC users to add extra life to tracks.

Beyond the input and gain stages, the VLC offers powerful tone shaping through its passive LC EQ.
