2 Headphone Outputs for Monitoring
Flexible Signal Routing
Limiting in Case of Loud Noises
Included Carrying Case
Designed to be used in surveillance and forensic capacities, the CEDAR SE 1 is a box that improves the intelligibility of speech. The unit offers two channels of built-in filtering and enhancement tools in a form factor small enough to slip into your pocket. It's relatively lightweight at just over 1 lb.
RCA inputs and outputs allow for both digital and analog connections. Two 1/4" headphone jacks are on hand for monitoring straight from the SE 1.
The routing is flexible: Two listeners can listen to one channel of audio; One listener can monitor two channels of audio; Or, conversely, two listeners can listen to two different channels. Thus, you and a partner can monitor independent surveillance operations at one time, if need be. You can also choose to route a filtered and an unfiltered version of the audio to each output, so that a courtroom or an investigator may hear both the original audio and its filtered result.
The processing within this unit is based in part on CEDAR's well-regarded FNR forensic noise reduction system. A dynamic signal enhancement filter is also employed to make the speech itself more intelligible. Limiting is applied to the signal to avoid output clipping distortion in case of sudden, loud bursts of audio. Whether you work in security or investigation, this device will come in handy.
Please note, the processing this box provides is not intended for use in pro-audio or post-production scenarios. This is strictly a forensic and investigative tool.
