Correctly-produced bass information by Base Extension system contributes to three dimensionality – which is of particular importance when talking about Dolby Atmos
Bundle includes (3) One15 monitors (main LCR), (4) One12 monitors (surround), (4) One12 monitors (ceiling), (1) FlexBase25 System (bass extension), (2) Amp700 power amplifiers (for LCR), and (1) Amp400.8 power amplifier (for surround & OH)
Dolby Atmos has been used in the film industry for years. Now some of the largest subscription based music services have announced that they will be supporting Atmos and making it their preferred format.
With that in mind, we have put together an example system from Amphion, in 7.1.4, which is the minimum for Dolby Atmos. The Amphion Atmos 7.1.4 package offers the minimum channel count for Dolby Atmos setups.
THIS BUNDLE CONTAINS:
(3) One15 monitors (main LCR)
The Amphion One15 intended for just about any professional monitoring application, including surround duties. One15 consists of a custom designed 5.25" aluminium woofer, 1" ultra-fast titanium tweeter, distinctive Corian Wave Guide and painstakingly crafted sealed enclosure. It’s transparent top end, natural midrange and tight, accurate bass combine to produce a trustworthy full range monitor that can be worked on for extended sessions without ear fatigue.
(8) One12 monitors (surround & ceiling)
The Amphion One12 is the most compact speaker in the Amphion line. Designed primarily for smaller project studios, post-production edit bays and mobile recording facilities, One12’s custom-designed aluminium 4.5" woofer, 1" ultra-fast titanium tweeter and innovative Corian Wave Guide integrate seamlessly with a precision designed sealed enclosure to deliver clean, smooth, full range performance even in restricted workspaces.
(1) FlexBase25 System (bass extension)
Stereo bass-extension and management system with a separate LFE-channel input and a 600W amplifier
Lowest octave redesigned…
Nailing the lowest octave-settings and translating it precisely from a studio to any listening situation is the foremost challenge for any contemporary music production. The fragmented playback environment demands extreme precision in the process of music creation and sound editing, especially when it comes to modern, bass-heavy production.
A single mono subwoofer is part of a movie format, but Amphion does not believe it is good enough to be used in music production. In music, it is necessary to keep the stereo information throughout the whole frequency band. Amphion’s FlexBase25 presents you with an unconventional approach to subwoofer design that should fit especially well with the rapidly changing landscape of modern music-making and will satisfy even the most demanding producers or sound engineers.
FlexBase is a single box, stereo subwoofer, which is placed in the centre line between the main speakers. Wide adjustment possibilities over crossover frequency (35-260 Hz), subwoofer level, as well as the mono-stereo spread, allow FlexBase to address the needs of a rapidly changing landscape of modern music-making. With a turn of a few dials, the system can be adapted to what best works for the project an engineer is working on.
FlexBase can be fat, fun, and vibey when writing and producing. It will be precise, correct, and analytical when putting the finishing touches on a song or a film score. The system will allow you to continue to use your monitors for a narrower midrange view, as FlexBase can be bypassed. FlexBase works with all Amphion products. Pair it with One12, One15, Two15 or One18 for a smaller room full range system or place it with behind the console while keeping your One18, Two15 or Two18 on the meter bridge.
(2) Amp700 power amplifier (for LCR)
Amphion’s philosophy is to develop innovative products with high-performance and longevity. Amp700 delivers rock-solid control and tight, fast, high-resolving power to get maximum performance from your monitors. Amp700 provides 2 x 350 W for 8 ohm, and 2 x 700 W for 4 ohm load, which gives plenty of headroom for the highest level of performance.
To reach the needed performance level, Amphion developed a buffer-stage, which improved the sonics further by adding a subtle touch of class A sound to D class topology. Three step adjustment (0 dB, -12dB, -24dB) of the amplifiers input sensitivity allows finding suitable settings for each speaker model / application, which makes Amp700 a perfect partner to all Amphion models.
(1) Amp400.8 power amplifier (for surround & OH)
The Amp400.8 provides an exceptional level of multichannel amplification. It is built on the highly advanced Class-D platform, which offers abundant, fast, controlled, and low distortion power. To reach the needed sonic character and performance, an in-house designed buffer-stage was added to complement the merits of the latest Class-D technology. The buffer stage improves the impedance characteristics and cohesion between the channels, so that speed, control, neutrality, and ultra-low distortion can come across in an emotionally involving manner.
Though Amp400.8 was mainly developed for immersive audio, nothing prevents using it for other multichannel applications as well. As all 8 channels are identical and discreet it can also also be used in a 2-channel environment for driving up to 4 pairs of passive speakers. It will equally drive both 8 ohm and 4 ohm loads, and partners perfectly with all Amphion models. Though Amp400.8 was developed and optimized for Amphion monitors, it provides excellent results with wide range of passive speakers. Neutrik XLR and Speakon connectors offer a convenient and secure way to connect the amplifier to rest of the system.
