  • Combining two channels of legendary API 312 Series preamps with additional features and controls, the API 3122V delivers classic API sound with more flexibility than ever. API’s proprietary transformers and renowned 2520 op-amps deliver the same expressive tone as the original API 312 preamp heard on countless hits since the 1970s, while its extended feature set makes it versatile enough for any studio. The 3122V packs a ton of character into a single rack space, making it the perfect centerpiece for streamlined project studios or a powerful tool in the racks of professional facilities.

Beyond the sound, the real strength of the 3122V is its enhanced suite of controls and thoughtful utility features. Switchable front and rear inputs allow you to have both channels hard-wired to your patch bay while giving you the flexibility to plug a mic or instrument straight into the front XLR combo jack when inspiration strikes. When using the ¼” input, the Hi-Z switch provides optimal performance for instrument-level signals.

The familiar gain control provides up to 68 dB of amplification for microphones or 48 dB for instruments, with discrete increments that make it easy to precisely recall settings. The continuously variable output knob lets you fine-tune the output level, making it possible to crank the gain and get the most out of the preamp without overloading the next stage of your signal chain. For even more flexibility, the 3:1 output transformer tap selector switch (a staple of the 312 Series) enables you to drive the preamp for additional saturation without overloading other modules in your signal chain.

Rounding out the 3122V are all the standard features you expect to see on a professional preamp: 48V phantom power for condenser microphones, -20 dB pads for taming loud input sources, polarity switches that invert the phase of the signal and high-pass filters that reduce frequencies below 50Hz by 12 dB per octave. Both channels feature classic API-style analog VU meters that light up with a warm glow so you can keep an eye on your levels.
